ENSO moodboard

moodboard from the ENSO collection

Want to share some of my moodboards with you, and tell you a bit about them... Because they are essential elements in my creative process.

At the source of each of my collections, there are multiple currents of inspiration.

Some, of which I am very aware, allow me to express an idea, a feeling, through the symbolic language that is mine. This language also necessarily touches on the universal, I am firmly convinced that symbolism is the means of expression of the soul of the world, since beyond our differences and our cultures it connects us deeply to our shared humanity.

Other more unconscious, more subterranean currents are nourished by various influences, memories, sounds, emotions, atmospheres, and the whole thing forms a somewhat vague whole, which I touch with my finger without to be able to really catch it, a bit like those dreams that escape us when we wake up, but whose essence we nevertheless continue to perceive.

The moodboard is my butterfly net, it allows me to capture all these ephemeral sensations as they arise and gently bring them to light, so that I can observe them.

First there is the messy and joyful search for images that speak to me, that call me. I always do it in a very spontaneous way, without an established plan, just by letting myself be infused by what is there, here, at this precise moment...

And then, the pieces of the puzzle fall into place and suddenly the particular assembly that I have created quite freely reveals the story that was inside me, lurking, ready to emerge. I can then literally “read” through these images and find what they unveal, what they represent, what they reveal.

An obviousness springs up which ignites the spark and the ideas can fuse... and then begins the creative excitement, the need to touch the material and give it life.

All of this is pure pleasure for me, and the simple memory of these moments (like today when I needed it) erases the doubts and questioning that sometimes catch up with me, and brings me back again and again to the workbench, with the feeling of being fully in my place, aligned.

I don't know what these images mean to you, but I could tell you for hours about what they mean to me! 😉
